re. product key viewer. does the viewer show the key no. that comes with the disk [windows disk] or just the no. typed in when [in my case ] service pack 2 was put on my computer. i lost my no. and someone else put windows xp on my computer . i couldn’t find my disk after this but the man at the shop who put windows on [my new computer ] said he’d given it me back; i cannot get sp2 to go on my computer. ” invalid key” microsoft keep saying

my product key has been changed by someone else how do i find that one out?
They changed it so they can have the ‘valid’ key while you get they give or ‘Installed’ a copy of XP with an ‘Invalid’ key.
If your computer was purchased from a VERY reputable vendor and after taking it in to be ’serviced’ by a ‘Third-Party’, you found out that you cannot install some updates due to an invalid key, report it to Microsoft @ 1-800-RU-LEGIT they will get to the bottom of it.

i followed your advice and i find my cd key but it go the same problem when i used for an update and do the validation it won’t let me do any upgrade nor any security update either microsoft cannot help me either i’m so desperate….

Hi! Can you please tell me if one can check the Key Code on a Windows CD? This means prior to installation. I have what I believe is a genuine copy of XP-Professional, though the COA has been mislaid and the key required before it will agree to install. The computer I am upgrading has a version of XP-Family Installed and I can obtain the key code from the Registry, but this is no use for installing the new upgrade. I’m stuck! Any help or special product to be purchased would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
